Jayne began her dance life at the age of five with the ‘K’ School of dance, under Kathleen West, studying all dance forms. It soon became evident that her first love would be classical ballet. As her natural talent developed she was selected to extend her training with the Northern Ballet Theatre, enabling her to work with professional dancers and international teachers. She has extensive performance experience including competitions, festivals and professional productions.
From the age of eleven Jayne was also taught by Cynthia Carr when she was introduced to Classical Greek dance; allowing her to express her love of dance through a more natural and musical form. A highlight from this experience was competing at the Ruby Ginner awards and winning the musicality award and overall senior group winner. Jayne has worked closely with the Classical Greek Dance Association, specifically dancing for the grade 6 premiere and demonstration, and recording the graded DVD.
The exceptional standard and variety of her dance tutors influenced Jayne’s decision to train at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Here she completed a BA (Hons) degree, as well as achieving her ARAD and LRAD.
Since then Jayne has taught all levels of RAD ballet, from PrePrimary to Advanced Two, and has had very successful results in both graded and vocational examinations.
Jayne’s first contact with the Janet Ashton School was taking Classical Greek examinations at the school many years ago. Since then she has continued her training in the genre to become a fully qualified Classical Greek dance teacher with the ISTD.
